BOLD Summit Attendee, Lane McNab of Lane McNab Interiors

Lane began her adult life as a singer, graduating with advanced degrees in vocal performance and then spending several years as a highly-acclaimed soprano in leading roles throughout the Bay Area. After taking time off from singing to manage the demands of a growing family, Lane began to focus entirely on her other passion: designing interiors.

Lane apprenticed on numerous projects with a local design and construction firm as a designer and assistant project manager before founding her own firm in 2012. Custom and semi-custom pieces are a feature of many of Lane’s designs and she works with local artisans to create one-of-a-kind pieces for clients throughout the Bay Area.

Lane McNab Interiors has developed a tried and true system for design implementation with an emphasis on a stress-free, detailed execution and client experience. A deep devotion to the transformative power of beauty in people’s lives, once through music and now through design connects Lane’s passions.

BOLD Summit Attendee, Lisa Davenport of Lisa Davenport Designs

Lisa Davenport, of Lisa Davenport Designs, entered the world of interior design in a less-than-conventional way. Upon completing a degree in Commercial Design, Lisa was in search of a career she could be passionate about.

lisadavenport3

Some time later, Lisa returned to Paier College of Art and studied interior design, refining her signature hand-rendering technique. Since then, Lisa has worked with clients in the interior design industry for over twenty years, and still continues to find the magic in her job every day.

Although she may have an easygoing personality, Lisa’s biggest pet peeve is lack of attention to detail. Un-fluffed pillows quake with fear when she enters a room. A crooked picture frame will stop her in her tracks.

Lisa finds that the best part of working with clients is the relationships she builds with them. Getting to know her clients on a personal level helps Lisa cater to their style so that their home feels like an extension of themselves. When you talk, Lisa listens.

Becoming Luxury and the Birth of the BOLD Summit

Becoming a luxury interior design firm is not about putting on a facade or charging exorbitant fees. It is about functioning on such a high level that you are able to go beyond the ordinary and sufficient. It is about elevating the focus from mere necessity to that of delight and inspiration. Becoming a luxury design firm is hard-won and not for the faint of heart, because one must become luxury from the inside out.

There are a few steps to creating that special luxury touch and they may not all be apparent to you from the beginning. Ask yourself how you can go the extra step and make each experience memorable and uniquely of your firm. But remember, you don’t have to be alone on this journey!

I work with you to plot out the course in a very tangible way so that you, first of all, have clarity. And I find that — as simple as that sounds — it’s actually hard to come by. It requires outside input and it’s helpful when it comes from your peers and people that have already done it before and are doing it successfully in the current environment.

I developed the Business of Luxury Design Summit to create a sanctuary. Up until the BOLD Summit there was no place to brainstorm and collaborate with peers and get all kinds of information from experts that can really address those needs on your level.

It’s very much a holistic process. Bringing in all of these various experts to nourish this design community seemed right on target with what my mission is and has been for the last decade: to empower the designer and advance this industry.
